Things You Should Know About Moving To Canada

and other random silliness about the aftermath of the election....

Evidently the map of the United States will be redrawn to more reflect the political inclinations of the country... THE NEW MAP

SO YOU WANT TO MOVE TO CANADA...
As a political refugee ... Because there will be a bit of a wait

CANADA'S CHOICE:
On NPR yesterday, a Canadian journalist was interviewed. He stated that if Canadians had voted in the US election, Bush would have only had 15% of the vote.

DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE REST OF THE WORLD:
8 out of the 10 countries surveyed would have elected Kerry, the 2 Bush countries were Russia and Israel. The full article can be found here

Random "Princess Bride" Factoids...

I think I'll do this every once in a while. Just post some random movie trivia.
One of my most favorite movies of all time is "The Princess Bride". I NEVER get sick of seeing this movie- much like "The Goonies"- but that's another post.

I was just checking out The Smoking Gun and saw that "Fezzik", AKA Andre The Giant, AKA André Rousimoff, has a mugshot . Bummer.

I thought I'd list some other random "Princess Bride"trivia:

* The two rival kingdoms in the movie are Florin and Guilder - these are the names of two Dutch coins.

* Vizzini's advice on not getting involved in a land war in Asia is derived from principles stated by Field Marshall Bernard Law Montgomery (Viscount Alamein) in a speech in the House of Lords on 30 May 1962: "Rule 1, on page 1 of the book of war is: 'Do not march on Moscow.' ... Rule 2 is: 'Do not go fighting with your land armies in China.'

* The Fencing Masters that Inigo (Mandy Patinkin) and Wesley(Cary Elwes) talk about studying are all real Fencing Masters from the 14th to 16th centuries. Although the styles of fighting they are using have little to do with what those masters actually taught.

* Director Rob Reiner left the set during Billy Crystal's scenes because he would laugh so hard that he would become nauseous.

* The "Six-fingered man", Count Rugen (who has a total of 11 fingers counting his other hand) was played by Christopher Guest, who played Nigel Tufnel, in Rob Reiner's This Is Spinal Tap (1984). Nigel Tufnel was famous for having an amplifier that goes up to "11".

This is the end...

Well it's all over and we as americans were nearly divided in half over who should be commander in chief. Sadly (IMO) we must spend another 4 years with a right wing, backwards thinking, religious zealot. The cover of the Daily Mirror says it perfectly.

At that, I'll leave you with a quote from one of our founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson:

"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other fourty-nine."

Twenty,Twenty,Twenty Four Hours To Go...

I wanna be sedated.
Yikes- is it just me or has it absolutely, in no way, been worth turning on the television in the last week. Sooooo tired of campaign ads. Ugh.
My thought is that if you don't know who you plan to vote for YET, you have bigger problems than chosing who to pick on the ballot. That's all I'm gonna say about that.
And for those of you who don't vote because you think it doesn't really count? Well, think of it this way...we used to have a prehensile tail. We quit using it and it disappeared. Sometimes it might be nice to have a tail (especially for those fools who drive and talk on their cells while smoking a cigarette). Obviously our species has managed to get along just fine without the tail, but what if the right to vote was taken away? Just think about it.
Well, no matter who you plan to vote for, just get out and vote. Like the old saying goes "If ya don't use it, ya lose it".
